Abstract

Indonesiaialah bangsa yang memiliki keragaman ras agama dan adatistiadat yang banyak di kota dan desa.Termasuklah wilayah kota jambiyang masih menjalankan adat dan hukumadat yang dipengaruhi hukumislam. Adat dan agama saling terkait tidak dapat dipisahkan satu sama laindengan menekankan agama, yaitu adat bersendi syarak syarak bersendikitabullah, sarak mengato, adat memakai.Kota jambi mempunyai tradisiadat istiadat yang khas di dalam adat pernikahan seperti tradisi ulu antar,tradisimakansirihpinang,dalamtradisitersebutdisampaikanmenggunakanselokosebagaimediakomunikasi.Sertatatacaraadatpernikahanmelayujambiyaitu(1)Masaperkenalan;(2)Dudukbetanyo;(3) Mengisi adat menuanglembago; (4) Ijab Kabul; (5) Ulur antar serahterimopengantin(labuh lek).
