Abstract: Improving Students' Reading Ability in Indonesian Language Subjects Using PQ4R Learning Strategies in Grade V Elementary Schools. The purpose of this study is to improve students' reading comprehension skills using the PQ4R learning strategy (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review). The subjects of the study were students of class V-A at SD Negeri 101766 Banadar Setia, totaling 31 people consisting of 19 male students and 12 female students. This type of research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. Data collection tool in this study is a post test at the end of each cycle, student observation sheets and teacher observation sheets. The results showed that after the learning process using the PQ4R learning strategy there was an increase in students' reading comprehension skills, seen in the initial test results obtained an average of 61.85, then when the post-test I averaged an average of 69.60 and in post test II the average obtained by students was 84.03.Keywords: Reading skills, Learning Strategies, PQ4RAbstrak: Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dengan Menggunakan Strategi Pembelajaran PQ4R di Kelas V SD. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review). Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V-A SD Negeri 101766 Banadar Setia yang berjumlah 31 orang yang terdiri dari 19 orang siswa laki-laki dan 12 orang siswa perempuan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri atas dua siklus, setiap siklus terdiri atas dua kali pertemuan. Alat pengumpul data pada penelitian ini adalah post test pada setiap akhir siklus, lembar observasi siswa dan lembar observasi guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah proses pembelajaran menggunakan strategi pembelajaran PQ4R terjadi peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa, terlihat pada hasil tes awal diperoleh rata-rata secara klasikal sebesar 61,85, kemudian saat post test I rata-rata secara klasikal sebesar 69,60 dan pada post tes II rata-rata yang didapat siswa sebesar 84,03.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan membaca, Strategi Pembelajaran, PQ4RDownloads
