TERJEMAHAN WORDPLAY PADA œTHE ILLUSTRIOUS CLIENT DALAM BAHASA INDONESIA

Abstract: Wordplay Translation On "The Illustrious Client" In Bahasa Indonesia. This study aims to describe the form and function of existing wordplay in the source text, to analyze the wordplay translation techniques used in translating wordplay, and to discuss the equivalence of wordplay translation on the quality of the text in general. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research is the adventure story of The Illustrious Client and its translation in Indonesian. The results of this study found that of 162 units of data analyzed found 10 forms of wordplay with Punning Repetition as the most widely used wordplay form. From this research also found that raising serious effects is the most common wordplay function that is 149 cases (91,97%). The techniques used to translate the wordplay vary, from single to combined. Translation quality with scale 3 (fully equivalent) was ranked the top with 112 cases (69,14%). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi wordplay yang ada dalam teks sumber, menganalisis teknik penerjemahan wordplay yang digunakan dalam menerjemahkan wordplay, dan membahas kesepadanan dari penerjemahan wordplay tersebut terhadap kualitas teks secara umum. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian ini adalah kisah petualangan The Illustrious Client dan terjemahannya dalam bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dari 162 unit data yang dianalisis ditemukan 10 bentuk wordplay dengan Punning Repetition sebagai bentuk wordplay yang paling banyak digunakan. Dari penelitian ini juga ditemukan bahwa raising serious effects merupakan fungsi wordplay yang paling banyak muncul yaitu 149 kasus (91,97%). Teknik yang digunakan untuk menerjemahkan wordplay bervariasi, dari tunggal hingga gabungan. Kualitas terjemahan dengan skala 3 (fully equivalent) menduduki peringkat teratas dengan 112 kasus (69,14%). Dengan frekuensi hasil terjemahan wordplay yang cukup besar, maka secara umum hasil terjemahan bisa dikatakan cukup bagusKata Kunci: Wordplay, Bentuk, Fungsi, Teknik Penerjemahan, Kesepadanan
