POTENSI SERBUK GERGAJI KAYU SENGON SEBAGAI INSEKTISIDA BOTANI

Serangga yang berperan sebagai hama merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang masih sering terjadi dalam bidang pertanian. Penanganan yang selama ini dilakukan untuk mengendalikan permasalahan ini adalah menggunakan insektisida kimia. Penggunaan insektisida kimia dapat menimbulkan efek negatif baik bagi lingkungan maunpun kesehatan. Alternatif pengendalian serangga hama yang ramah lingkungan yaitu penggunaan insektisida botani. Salah satu tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai insektisida botani adalah sengon (Albizia sp.). Salah satu potensi tanaman sengon dijadikan bahan dasar insektisida karena menghasilkan beberapa senyawa metabolit sekunder. Senyawa metabolit sekunder yang dihasilkan berbeda pada setiap jenisnya. Secara umum senyawa metabolit sekunder dari tanaman sengon termasuk kelompok flavonoid, saponin, tanin, terpen, dan alkaloid. Senyawa-senyawa tersebut memiliki berbagai aktivitas biologi seperti antioksidan, antikanker, antitumor, antimikroba, antiinflamasi, antidiabetes, dan lain sebagainya. Beberapa senyawa metabolit sekunder tersebut, seperti saponin dan flavonoid, ternyata dapat bersifat toksik bagi serangga. Saponin dan flavonoid telah dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas antifeedant bagi beberapa serangga. Berdasarkan aktivitas senyawa metabolit sekunder dari sengon tersebut yang membuat serbuk gergaji kayu sengon berpotensi digunakan sebagai insektisida.References
